About Professor Hudson
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
With over 25 years of experience in clinical practice, Professor Hudson is an internationally renowned expert in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT), he successively became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He subsequently obtained a Master of Medicine degree in Plastic Surgery from UCT.
Professor Hudson is the only plastic surgeon in South Africa to hold fellowships with both The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the American College of Surgeons.
For two decades up until 2021, Professor Hudson was the head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital.
Today, he runs his private practice specializing in breast reconstruction, skin cancer surgery, breast and body procedures, cosmetic procedures and non-surgical procedures.

Professor Hudson is at the forefront of treatment, teaching and research in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He serves on the editorial board of the British Journal of Plastic Surgery, and is the only South African to regularly review for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – the world’s leading plastic surgery journal. Professor Hudson is also on the editorial board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and its sister journal PRS GO. Professor Hudson's contribution to these internationally acclaimed journals has led to new advances in breast surgery and breast reconstruction post mastectomy. This is a special and prestigious acknowledgement from leading plastic surgeons around the world.
